I’m doing a dialogue pass on a 98-page drama and need a clean way to mark scene turns and overlapping beats without junking up the page. Final Draft’s Beat Board helps at outline level, but in-script I’m torn between Revision Mode colors and Navigator bookmarks — anyone have a workflow that keeps dialogue beats visible for table reads?
I drop a one-word parenthetical at the exact line — “(turn)” or “(overlap)” — and set parentheticals to a unique Revision color so the beats pop at the table while the dialogue stays clean. Before sending a draft, I hit Reset Revisions so it prints normal. If that feels too loud, switch those to ScriptNotes on the same line and turn on View > Show ScriptNotes.
Building on @emma9026: use dual dialogue for overlaps — it telegraphs simultaneity without clutter. For turns, keep Revision Mode on but only show the change bar, and drop a tiny action cue like ’ — TURN — ’ right above the line so the bar marks it at the table. On a 98-pager you can strip it all in one go by accepting revisions after the read.
