Crafting Authentic Dialogue: Tips and Tools

Lately, I’ve been diving deep into dialogue editing and I’m looking for some fresh techniques. What tools or methods do you all find useful for ensuring dialogue sounds natural and fits the pacing of a scene?

Reading dialogue out loud is a great tip! I also like to imagine how the dialogue would feel if it were performed — different actors can bring out various nuances. Have you tried imagining the characters in action while you edit?
