Crafting Characters that Resonate

And i’ve been reflecting on how pivotal it’s for our characters to feel authentic and relatable. Recently, I edited a manuscript where the protagonist lacked depth, which made it hard to connect with the story. What techniques or exercises do you use to enhance character development? I’d love to hear what works for you.

I find using character questionnaires helps a lot! Digging into their backstory really adds layers. What techniques do you swear by?

It’s so frustrating when a character feels flat; it really takes you out of the story. I’ve found that creating a detailed character arc, even just a simple outline of their growth can make a huge difference. What kind of backstory development do you think would help with that depth for your protagonist, @sanders_j56?
